With 35 years of experience in primary and secondary education, including 22 years as Headmaster of two leading independent schools, Adrian provides high-impact coaching and consultancy for school leaders and leadership teams.
Most recently, Adrian led Finton House School in London for a decade before becoming Headmaster at The Hawthorns School in Surrey (part of the Caterham Family of Schools) in 2015. His extensive governance experience includes serving on the board at James Allen's Girls' School and chairing the Education Committee at The Unicorn School in Chiswick.
Throughout his distinguished career, Adrian has navigated the full complexity of school leadership. He brings deep, first-hand expertise in crisis management, school mergers, organizational restructuring, and change management. He understands that true leadership requires balancing the immense responsibility of serving a community with the vital necessity of personal resilience and self-care. At the core of his philosophy is a belief that building and nourishing healthy relationships is fundamental to a school’s success.
Adrian’s coaching style is deeply empathetic yet distinctively direct. He creates a trusted, focused space for leaders to think, combining active listening with the willingness to ask uncomfortable questions and challenge assumptions. Educational leaders find that this balance of robust challenge and authentic support delivers the clarity needed to shape healthy school cultures, develop high-performing teams, and make critical decisions.
Following his step back from headship, Adrian now dedicates his expertise entirely to empowering the next generation of school leaders and elevating leadership team dynamics.
